Apply to Teach Burlesque with Rogue
Rogue Burlesque has been offering introductory burlesque classes to the public for nearly 10 years. We're looking to add more instructors to our roster to keep up with the growing demand in Boston burlesque!
Instructors are paid independent contractors of Rogue Burlesque. We team-teach (meaning you'll never teach a class alone). Compensation varies depending on location and circumstances of each booking, but our instructors never walk away with less than $50 per gig.
We hold classes at the Arts at the Armory dance studio in Somerville, as well as private classes on location at clients' private residences or hotel suites. Our most common bookings are bachelorettes parties and birthday parties.
Classes run about 2-hours long, with some set-up and breakdown time on either end. All class supplies are provided by Rogue, and instructors are given a class curriculum to follow that Rogue has developed.

Along with your questionnaire, please submit 1-2 videos of you performing a classic femme burlesque "straight strip."
What do we mean by that?
Classic: demonstrating the elements of traditional burlesque like bumps, grinds, shimmies, boa work, chair dance, glove peels, bra remove, etc.
Femme: performing feminine gender expression in your styling and movements
Straight strip: the tease connection with the audience is the focus of the routine, as opposed to a conveying storyline or plot
Videos do not have to be professional quality -- cell-phone footage in a dance studio is fine. Please wear full costume and makeup for your video submissions and perform as if there were an audience.
